Remove Porn
Remove all porn movies, movies created solely as adult entertainment with the explicit purpose of showing people having sex. They serve no purpose at iCheckMovies.com
If it’s on IMDb, you can add it to iCheckMovies. We don’t want to filter stuff out. Some sort of NSFW thing to hide covers of porn movies is actually a good idea. We’ll think about that.

Here's a solution! Why don't some generous soul, just make an entirely new website, just for the porn-movies. I don't know, let's call it "ixxxmovies.com" or something like that. Oh, and all the ranks and awards and all that stuff is there too of course. That would make a great site. Works exactly like "icheck", but for porn! How 'bout it?

Please, remove the "El Paso Wrecking Corp." from the official list. I want to finish it, but this movie about faggot...

I want all movies which contain drug violation to be removed. Oh, and gay romance.
There certainly is a grey zone, so I will allow movies that won an Academy Award. But not these short film and documentary stuff. Nobody watches that shit.
They have the explicit purpose of showing people taking drugs/being gay. They serve no purpose at iCheckMovies.com

Well can't ICM also has a "show/hide adult content" as any normal crossover site has?

It's understandable that certain users have different sensibilities, so I agree with mjf that there should be an "NSFW"-type setting, if possible.

This is a horrible idea. Porn should not be removed, nor should there be an option to hide porn (but I wouldn't mind if there was an option to hide the posters for people who are worried about NSFW images).
Also, The Opening of Misty Beethoven is awesome (although the fact that porn can be good is irrelevant; even if I hated all porn I would still say don't remove it).
-
Life as Fiction commented
Theoretically, this shouldn't be very hard because IMDb categorizes pornographic films with an "Adult" tag, but let's be honest: The Opening of Misty Beethoven is arguably better than half the films than come out in theatres today.

They could filter out the genre in its whole. And perhaps with a certain option, enabling it back.

If I watched porn, I would keep track of it. But I don't watch it, because it's gross - with the exception of Deep Throat, Emanuelle in America and some Vogel shorts because I like checks :)
I do think they should be allowed on the site though. Many films that claim to not be porn (In The Realm of the Senses, for example) would be considered porn to me. And 'Realm', Blowjob and Frat House F*ckfest 12 are all equally porn in my eyes, so it would be unfair to treat the arty ones as lesser porn and allow them a place on the site.
There are too many debatable aspects for it to really be an option, I think.

You're free to voice your opinion; that's what this board is for. And I'm glad you did.
I'm sure there's plenty of people who whould like to keep porn on iCM. I do, for one. And there are surely other people who want to keep track of the erotica movies they've seen. I've recently watched Alice in Wonderland - An X-rated Fantasy, The Lickerish Quartet, Le parfum de Mathilde and some others... and I want to keep track of those movies, too. They are true movies after all, not just short clips of people having sex. The only reason I see for not having them on iCM are minors, but an opt-in could fix that.

I'm certainly not arguing with your right to voice your opinion, that's not my issue, in fact I think it's a good thing you did that (rather than just mumbling angrily to yourself, for instance).
But voice an opinion and you must expect that other people will voice their opinions (otherwise we'd have a tyranny of "first voiced opinion").
I don't share your opinion. I don't particularly think porn movies are interesting and I don't plan on making a "Top Ten Porn Movies" list on iCM anytime soon, but I do believe that they, as a category, fall within the scope of iCM.
In fact, you might argue that they belong "more" on iCM than a category such as documentaries - porn is, to my mind, CLEARLY in the realm of fiction, like most other titles on iCM - or TV series - many of the old porn movies had theatrical releases. Granted, sleazy theaters, but theaters nonetheless.

Knaldskalle: Exposing people to porn was not the issue either. We've been given a chance to make our voices heard on how iCM should evolve and I for one would not miss porn one bit. I do not keep track of the porn that may have come (oi bad pun) my way, I do not memorize the "actors" nor do I give a damn what the story is. Anyone actually want to keep the porn on iCM? It may be a small issue since I can, as No one guy mentioned, ignore it. But given this opportunity, I'll stand up and say that I personally would like the porn removed. I could accept a filter that hides the adult content by default, as iMDB chose to do.
To be honest, I'm absolutely certain that everyone understands what I mean and I am happy not to debate this any more, trolls will not be fed. Agree, disagree, feel free to voice your opinion, it is your right to do so. I've voiced mine. -
Knaldskalle commented
Oh please... It's not like listing a porn movie on ICM is exposing anyone to actual porn.

HEMA: it doesn't really fit into the description "movies created solely as adult entertainment with the explicit purpose of showing people having sex." does it? Perhaps I was vague with the "adult entertainment" bit. I would argue that 'Blow job' is quite different from a title like "Frat House F*ckfest 12".
-
HEMA commented
Blow job is 100% sex, and still it belongs on this website, if you ask me

No one guy: the porn movies shouldn't be on iCheckMovies.com in the first place. I never said I didn't like porn. I said that porn has no place on the site. "taking away my freedom"... heh. That's absurd beyond belief.
Debbie Does Dallas was a nice example of a movie that is undeniably classic, yet very pornographic. There is always a grey zone and we could discuss it forever without reaching consensus. Basically: 90% shagging = porn = remove it from iCheckMovies.com. Simple enough for you? -
No one guy commented
How do u describe a porn movie??? Just Hardcore and/or or Soft core? What about Porno's on official lists, should they be removed??? does this censor the list taking away my freedom to check those movies? Remember this is sight where you basically click on a button that would refer you and other users to what films you have seen. You don't like porn - don't check porn.
-
[Deleted User] commented
Hmm... "pornographic movies with interesting themes and stories"? Did you miss the entire point of porn?
If a movie's runtime consists to 90%+ of people shagging, I say remove it. You really want to argue that such 'films' belong on iCheckMovies.com? Maybe you should start a sister site, iCheckPornMovies.com.
I think you'll be very hard pressed to find any film buff who watches porn for anything other than the actual pornographic content. -
