create charts to show progress over time
if the data is kept, it would be nice to show how you've moved up in rankings (or progressed in a list) over time in a line chart

I definitely used it quite a bit. The problem was that it wasn't intuitive enough for people to even know the option was there to begin with. I found it by my mistake myself.

It was removed due to not being used very much :( But there's some other big site that tracks the imdb top250 history that you could use, and it dates back to 1997: http://www.timo-schreiter.de/imdb/
There are others as well. -

Frans: Understood, was just doubling-down on HEMA's comment. It's a feature I do miss, personally.

This is not what is meant by this idea. You are referring to the feature (chart) that showed to position of a movie on a list at a certain time. I thought it was nice, too, especially for the imdb lists and the top250 in particular, because new movies come and go on that list. -

Films used to have this, and I really do miss this feature. I like seeing trends of films over long periods, and sometimes it helps in making a decision on which films to watch. (I.e., if a film is heavily trending to leave a frequently updated list, there is less of an urge to watch it.)

A small related idea: on Progress page highlight your last day/week/month's progress on the end of those thick horizontal stripes by coloring corresponding part differently. If I saw a quarter of Shorts list last week, the last quarter of that list's stripe would be darker.

Something like a chart showing rate of movies watched, etc. This would likely be a premium feature.

And not just for people, but also for movies (I know we've had this in the past but I can't seem to find it)
