Improve comment system
Some things that bug me about the current comment system:
- I don't know when someone replies to my comment
- It's impossible to read them chronologically (not only is it ordered the wrong way, I have to read down to up, then scroll down, go to the next page, rinse, repeat).
- Quoting someone might be nice
- (maybe a bit too far out) liking comments and or mentioning people would improve discussion, but then again I just like the whole social/interaction/discussion part of the site. Might be a bit too much of a sidetrack of the site's goals.

Comment on friends' activities
Since I can see on the main webpage the films my friends checked, I would like to comment on these activities, so I can ask him his opinion about it, and so on. I'm lazy to send a private message about it.

Allow users to flag comments as spam.
Comments like these:
http://www.icheckmovies.com/profiles/comments/?user=expletivedleted
or any other kind of spam could be flagged by other users, and if a comment is flagged say 5 or so times it would be collapsed. The comment could still be expanded and read, but it would be marked as spam and it would no longer clutter up the pages with obnoxious self-promotion.50 votes -
Incorporate "challenges" into ICM
By challenges I mean month-long film-watching contests each dedicated to different cinema niches. Challenge have a set of related lists, and only films from them counts. Usually such contests generate a lot of feedback to related films and lists and motivate participants to explore obscure areas of world cinema. An accent on challenges will be a huge bonus to ICM's reputation as a place for open-minded film viewers.
I took the concept from ICM Board, where this activity is very popular, but some other movie forums also hold challenges. Another model is Karagarga's 'Master of the Month' series.

Shorten down the All-Time Worldwide Box office list
Shorten down the All-Time Worldwide Box office list to 100o or 200. It's on 621 now and the list will only be increasing. Or just dump the list, it doesn't seem to be one of the best ones. Or just take the highest grossing movies from each year etc. Or something similar. Look in the comments of it to see that a lot of people seem to think similar to me.

Less boring frontpage
In my opinion the frontpage of ICM is kinda boring.
The "Here's what your friends have been up to lately" is good but the right column is boring because that never changes. You could show it to logged-out (new) viewers but we members probably want to see something else each day.
The "Quote of the day" is decent and "News" is good. What I suggest is a section that says: "Latest comments". This obviously contains about 5 links to the last 5 comments made on ICM.
What else would be nice to replace the current content of the…
